Teams Announced For Dice Cricket Blockbuster

Two very formidable outfits have been selected to go head to head in the Riding Mill Australian tour opener. The hopes of England are resting on the shoulders of the Riding Mill touring party who are hoping to restore pride after what has been a disappointing start to the Ashes series.

Riding Mill will be skippered by the experienced Liam James who was a key member of the squad who last toured in 2020. James will have high hopes for his side who will be desperate to hit the ground running on Wednesday Night UK time. It is understood that similar to the omission of Broad and Anderson at the Gabba, Riding Mill have decided to leave key men Brian Watson and Mark S Butcher out of the XI for the tour opener with both players expected to be selected for the weekend clash with Dubbo CYMS.

In keeping with a real English flavour for the match, overseas cricket librarian Matt Fiction will lead the Burrabadine XI who have made a few changes to their line up after going down to Riding Mill in the 2020 tour opener. From what we are hearing there are a couple of members of the Burrabadine XI under injury clouds with the team medical staff set to make a final decision on the morning of the match.

The match will get underway at 9pm UK time on Wednesday which is 8am Eastern Standard Time in Australia. Scores will be updated at the end of each over on the official Cricket Library twitter account.

Adrian Griffith on Cricket, Identity & Life Beyond the Game The Cricket Library

Former West Indies opening batter, Adrian Griffith joins the Cricket Library Podcast for a fascinating and deeply reflective conversation about cricket, identity, purpose, and life beyond the game. Growing up in Barbados, Adrian rose through Caribbean cricket to become an opening batter for the West Indies cricket team during one of the most compelling eras in world cricket. He shares stories from his early journey into first-class cricket, touring Australia, facing elite fast bowling, and the pressures that come with representing the maroon cap at the highest level. One of the highlights of the episode is Adrian reflecting on his remarkable Test match against New Zealand, where he became the first West Indian cricketer to bat on all five days of a Test match — a rare and unique achievement in cricket history. Adrian also revisits the unforgettable Test against Australia where Brian Lara produced one of the greatest innings the game has ever seen, offering incredible insight into Lara’s brilliance and the atmosphere surrounding that iconic moment in cricket and the story behind his selection in the team. Beyond the playing field, Adrian discusses his transition into officiating as an ICC match referee and his current work with AGC, where he continues contributing to leadership, mentoring, and the development of people within and beyond cricket. While the conversation celebrates Test cricket, West Indies history, and unforgettable moments, it also explores a deeper theme — that achievements on the field do not fully define a person’s worth. Adrian shares thoughtful reflections on transition, identity, leadership, and building a meaningful life beyond cricket. Topics include: • The significance of the Maroon West Indies Cricket Cap • Touring Australia • Batting on all five days of a Test match • Test cricket pressures • Caribbean cricket culture • ICC match refereeing • Leadership and mentoring • AGC and life after cricket • Purpose and identity beyond sport If you love cricket history, long-form conversations, and powerful human stories from inside the game, this episode is for you.

ODI Debutants on Boxing Day at the MCG

GD Campbell made his One Day International debut at the MCG on Boxing Day against Sri Lanka in 1989.

Also making their debut in the game were MA Taylor and Sanath Jayasuriya who would go on to have impressive international careers.

DM Jones top scored for Australia with an impressive 85 not out from 89 deliveries. While SP O’Donnell claimed man of the match honours after finishing 57 not out from 60 balls before chiming in with four valuable wickets with the ball.

Australia won the contest by 30 runs in what was the most recent time a Test Match was not played at the MCG on Boxing Day.

You can hear more of the Greg Campbell story in his chat with Matt Ellis on the Cricket Library Podcast.

Hopes of England resting on Riding Mill

In what has been a disappointing start to the Ashes tour for England, there is some hope on the horizon with the immanent virtual arrival of Riding Mill Cricket Club to take on some of Australia’s best dice cricketers.

In what promises to be an enthralling virtual experience for both the hosts and the visitors, Riding Mill hope to restore pride with their thirteen player squad consisting of some experienced campaigners along with five debutants hoping to make a name for themselves on this virtual tour.

The opening game of the tour is less than a week away with a lot of speculation surrounding the make up of the Burrabadine Cricket Library XI which is expected to be announced on the eve of the fixture.

Both teams will no doubt be mentally preparing for what promises to be a blockbuster clash to start the tour which will continue into January. The fast paced T10 format is always full of surprises and action ensuring fans around the world are on the edge of their seats.

To follow along with the action keep your eye out on the official Cricket Library Twitter feed where match score will be updated at the end of each over.

Sandhu king of the Hat Trick!

Gurinder Sandhu has completed a magnificent week playing for Queensland backing up his six wicket haul in the Sheffield Shield with his second career hat trick in the Marsh One Day Cup competition.

His magnificent yorker to knock over Nathan McAndrew to claim only the 9th Hat trick in Australian Domestic One Day Cricket and the second of his career.

Brenton Speed on Fox Sports provided an excellent call of the hat trick ball.

It has been a stellar start to his time in Queensland and at the library we are thrilled to see his dedication and commitment translating into results with the ball.
