Hooked on Cricket An Addict’s A-Z Guide by Max Walker with Ken Piesse

As a starry eyed book monitor in the late 1980s I could not help but be captivated by the rich story telling ability of former Australian cricketer Max ‘Tangles’ Walker. Unfortunately I never had the privilege of watching him play, however, the footage I have seen and his career statistics suggest the man certainly knew his way around the cricket field.

Not only did I have the Max Walker bowling machine that fired plastic balls from one end of the lounge room to the other, Hooked on Cricket was a prized part of my small but growing cricket library and fuelling my passion for the game.

This book is as the title suggests, an A-Z guide to the sport that has captured the imagination of generations of fans and librarians alike. Max has collated a ream of anecdotes as well as including some useful wisdom that is helpful for young players of the game.

If you don’t have a copy of this one in your personal cricket library, we strongly recommend that you track one down.
